Greece Clarifies Absence from London Meeting on Ukraine

Greek government sources have explained the country's non-participation in the recent London meeting, emphasizing that it was a UK-led initiative rather than part of an international organization, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

According to the sources, invitations were extended primarily to nations, including non-EU countries, that provide significant aid to Ukraine and are ready to offer further military support.

The Greek government reaffirmed its commitment to Ukraine through the UN General Assembly and Security Council. It also highlighted that discussions on European-level support for Ukraine will take place at the upcoming extraordinary European Council on March 6, where binding decisions will be made.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to reiterate Greece’s stance on Europe taking greater responsibility for its defense. This includes advocating for budgetary flexibility to enable major defense investments and joint European funding for projects like an anti-missile shield. Greece supports a unified and cohesive European position on defense and security.
