Greek PM Visits School as €350M Modernization Program Kicks Off

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the 8th Primary School of Nea Philadelphia on Thursday to highlight upcoming infrastructure upgrades under the €350 million "Marietta Giannakou" program. The initiative aims to modernize 645 schools across 249 municipalities in its first phase, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

"This long-overdue intervention will begin with the oldest schools, ensuring the first renovations are completed by next September," Mitsotakis stated. He also noted that €100 million of the funding comes from the Hellenic Bank Association.

Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis emphasized the program’s impact, saying, "More than 600 schools will benefit in the first phase, covering over 80% of the municipality. This is a crucial step, alongside the ongoing digital infrastructure upgrades."

The "Marietta Giannakou" program, first announced at the Thessaloniki International Fair, is now in full swing, marking a major investment in Greece’s educational future.
