Romania Sets Presidential Election Timeline for 2025

Government spokesperson Mihai Constantin announced key dates for Romania's upcoming presidential election. The electoral period will officially begin on February 18, 2025, with the selection of five High Court judges for the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC). Political parties, alliances, and independent candidates must submit their candidacies to the BEC by March 15, 2025, at midnight. The electoral campaign is set to run from April 4 to May 3, ending at 7:00.

Voting in Romania will take place on May 4, from 7:00 to 21:00. Voters present at polling stations or in line by 21:00 will be allowed to vote until 23:59.

For Romanians abroad, voting will occur over three days: May 2 and 3, from 7:00 to 21:00 local time, and May 4, following Romanian time. All international polling stations will close at 21:00 Romanian time.
