Iohannis: Romania supports increase of South Korean investments, greenfield ones included

President Klaus Iohannis met on Wednesday at the Cotroceni Palace with South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, who is on an official visit to Romania. Iohannis highlighted on the occasion this special moment in the two states' bilateral relationship, as 2023 marks the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Romania - Republic of Korea Bilateral Strategic Partnership. "The president of Romania advocated capitalizing on the potential of bilateral cooperation, showing that updating the Strategic Partnership according to the common agenda adjusted to the current priorities of the two countries can bring about a new quantum leap in the ties between Romania and the Republic of Korea," the Presidential Administration informs.

Among the factors that can lead to the political and economic relaunch of the Strategic Partnership, President Iohannis highlighted the further growth of South Korean investments in Romania, including greenfield investments, which is supported by our country, but also the opportunity of identifying new tiers of cooperation in areas of shared interest such as energy - nuclear energy included, new technologies, semiconductors, the defence industry, infrastructure or climate change, the cited source said.
