Only 10 Italian Universities Improve in CWUR 2025
Sixty-six Italian universities, led by Sapienza University of Rome, appear in the 2025 edition of the Global 2000 ranking by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), but Italy struggles to compete with global rivals: 80% of Italian universities have fallen in the rankings, CE Report quotes ANSA.
In the top 2000, 10 Italian universities improved their positions compared to last year, 3 maintained their rankings, and 53 dropped.
The main factor behind the decline is poor performance in research, while competition from well-funded universities is increasing.
Fourteen Italian universities improved their research performance compared to 2024, while 52 performed worse.
