Top film festivals continue across Europe, Asia
This week, a wide range of events—from theater and concerts to film festivals and art fairs—will meet art lovers in cities around the world.
In London, the Royal Ballet and Opera will present a modern version of Rigoletto, the timeless masterpiece by Giuseppe Verdi.
The performance on April 8 will be directed by Oliver Mears, with the orchestra conducted by Mark Elder, and featuring performers such as George Petean and Aida Garifullina, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
Giacomo Puccini’s final masterpiece, Turandot, will be staged on April 8–9 at Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
Renowned Chinese artist Cao Fei will open her “Dash” exhibition on April 9 in Milan, presenting works exploring technology, urbanization, and virtual reality.
A major exhibition by pioneer of modern sculpture Constantin Brâncuși has opened in Berlin. It marks his first major exhibition in Germany in 50 years and will be on display this week at the Neue Nationalgalerie.
Festivals
One of Asia’s oldest international film festivals, the Hong Kong International Film Festival, continues this week through April 12, showcasing numerous films.
In Los Angeles, the PaleyFest LA will host stars of the television world, featuring special screenings with casts and creators. On April 6, a 50th anniversary celebration of the TV series Charlie's Angels will take place. Other featured shows include Shrinking, Emily in Paris, Scrubs, and more.
In New York, the Film at Lincoln Center and Museum of Modern Art will host the 55th edition of the New Directors/New Films festival from April 8–19, featuring 24 feature films and 10 short films from over 25 countries. The opening film will be Leviticus.
The Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival will take place in Belgium from April 3–18, presenting horror, thriller, sci-fi, and dark comedy films, including 100 feature films and over 60 shorts.
In Paris, the Art Paris 2026 will open this week at the Grand Palais, bringing together 165 galleries and more than 900 artists from 25 countries.
Across Europe, the JEMA 2026 will run from April 7–12, featuring over 200 free events in Paris and surrounding areas, including workshops at venues like the Basilica of Saint-Denis, Moulin Rouge, and Manufacture de Sèvres.
The 7th edition of the Paris Coffee Festival will take place from April 11–13, bringing together coffee enthusiasts and industry professionals with over 100 brands and various workshops.
Concerts
One of the most iconic music events in the U.S., the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, will be held at the Empire Polo Club in California starting April 10. The festival will feature global stars such as Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G, The xx, and BIGBANG.
Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti will perform in Poland on April 8 and in Czech Republic on April 10.
BRIT Award-winning singer Rick Astley will perform in Glasgow on April 10 and Newcastle on April 11.
Oscar-winning composer Rachel Portman will perform at Cadogan Hall in London, presenting music from films such as The Cider House Rules, Chocolat, Never Let Me Go, and Emma.
Films releasing in the U.S.
The film You, Me & Tuscany, directed by Kat Coiro and written by Ryan Engle, will be released on April 10.
The cult horror film Faces of Death returns in a modernized version directed by Daniel Goldhaber, starring Barbie Ferreira, Dacre Montgomery, Josie Totah, and Charli XCX.
The sports-action film Beast, starring Russell Crowe, Daniel MacPherson, and Luke Hemsworth, will also hit theaters this week.
The Canadian horror-thriller Hunting Matthew Nichols marks the directorial debut of Markian Tarasiuk, who also stars alongside Miranda MacDougall and Christine Willes.
