Justin Timberlake arrest footage released by police

American police have released video footage showing the arrest of Justin Timberlake for driving under the influence, following requests from several media outlets to make the footage public, EFE reported on Sunday.

Police in Sag Harbor (Long Island, New York) provided the footage to multiple U.S. media organizations, including TMZ. The video shows an officer approaching Timberlake’s car and informing him that he ran a red light and made a sudden left turn, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

During the conversation, the officer asks if he is visiting the area, to which the artist replies: “Yes, I’m on a world tour.” “Doing what?” the officer asks. “It’s hard to explain (…) I’m Justin Timberlake,” the singer responds.

He is then seen, appearing disoriented, undergoing several breathalyzer tests as well as a walking balance test.

“These tests are very difficult,” the artist tells the officers.

In another part of the video, an officer tells a woman accompanying Timberlake that he will be arrested, and she tries to convince them otherwise: “You can’t arrest Justin Timberlake, why? (…) Can you do me a favor because you liked ‘Bye Bye Bye’ or ‘SexyBack’?” she says, referencing his popular songs.

The footage also shows the 45-year-old singer at the police station, handcuffed and speaking with officers: “I only had one martini,” he says in his defense.

Authorities in Sag Harbor released the video after multiple media outlets requested it under freedom of information laws.

The artist filed a lawsuit against the municipality of Sag Harbor in early March after it decided to release the footage, arguing that its publication would harm his reputation.

Timberlake also stated in his complaint that the video shows him “in an extremely vulnerable state” and reveals “intimate details of his physical appearance, behavior, speech, and conduct” during the 2024 arrest.

His lawyers and the municipality eventually reached an agreement to release an edited version of the video.

After accepting a plea deal, Timberlake pleaded guilty in September 2024 to driving under the influence, for which he paid a fine and completed 25 hours of community service.
