Hollywood star George Clooney, his wife Amal Alamuddin Clooney, and their two children have obtained French citizenship, according to a decree published in the “Official Gazette.”

Revealed by Paris Match, the decree concerns the famous couple and their eight-year-old twins, CE Report quotes ATA.

Away from Hollywood, the actor, known for his iconic roles in the TV series ER and the Ocean’s films, and his Lebanese-British wife, a professional lawyer, spend part of their life in France.

“I love French culture, the language, even if I’m still just as bad after 400 days of lessons,” the 64-year-old actor and director told RTL in early December.

The couple bought a country house and a vineyard in Brignoles in 2021.

“Here, no one takes pictures of your children. There are no paparazzi hiding outside the school gates. That is essential for us,” he added in the same radio interview.

Although the Clooney family does not spend all their time in southern France, the property is “the happiest place for us,” the Oscar-winning actor (Syriana, 2005) said.

Meanwhile, his fellow American, director Jim Jarmusch, announced on France Inter radio on Friday his intention to apply for French citizenship.

“I would like to have another place where I can get away from the United States,” he said, explaining his attraction to “French culture.”
