George Clooney vows to stop on-screen kissing from 2026
In all the films of the Ocean’s saga, George Clooney and Julia Roberts never shared even a simple kiss.
Nor did he kiss Jennifer Lopez in Out of Sight, or Catherine Zeta-Jones in Intolerable Cruelty. Now, starting in 2026, the actor will include a clause in all his projects to avoid kissing anyone on screen.
This is what Clooney admitted in an interview with the Daily Mail, in which he said the decision had been made and agreed upon with his wife, Amal Clooney, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
“I’ve tried to follow the path of Paul Newman. I will no longer kiss any woman,” said the Ocean’s star. He did not explicitly state his reasons, but the move may be seen as a sign of respect for his marriage.
These were, in fact, the same reasons given by Paul Newman in the 1970s, when he made it clear that he would only kiss his wife, actress Joanne Woodward, on screen. It is also worth noting that since George Clooney became a father, his film appearances have significantly decreased, OraNews reports.
As reports CE Report, eight years have passed since Clooney became a father for the first time with Amal, welcoming twins Ella and Alexander. Since then, he has appeared only in The Midnight Sky, Ticket to Paradise, and in a small role in The Flash as Batman. Just a few months ago, he told Variety that it was time to make room for younger generations.
“Look, I’m 63 years old. I’m not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men. That’s not my job. I won’t be making romantic films anymore,” he said at the time—a statement he now seems to be honoring, especially after announcing he will no longer kiss anyone on screen.
