Moldova returns to Eurovision 2026 with revamped selection
The Republic of Moldova will make its return to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 after a one-year break, the country’s public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova announced. The comeback will feature a new national selection format, coordinated by producers Serghei Orlov and Roman Burlaca, who promise greater transparency, professionalism, and international competitiveness.
Applications for the National Selection will open on November 7 and remain available for 30 days. Artists interested in representing Moldova can submit their original songs to [email protected], in accordance with the official rules, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
For the first time, the national final jury will include 20 members — five international and fifteen national experts — to ensure an objective and well-balanced evaluation process.
Moldova did not participate in Eurovision 2025, citing economic, administrative, and artistic challenges that affected the quality and organization of the national selection. The decision was made by Moldova 1 and the Eurovision Moldova delegation to allow time for restructuring and to prepare a stronger return.
The 2026 edition marks both the 70th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest and Moldova’s 20th participation in the competition. The winner of the national final will receive professional mentorship from Orlov and Burlaca, along with financial support to prepare for the international stage.
