Police arrest Louvre theft suspect
According to Paris Match, the police operation linked to the Louvre theft investigation began last night at 10 p.m., when one of the two suspects was already at the airport preparing to board a flight to Algeria, CE Report quotes ANSA.
His accomplice, arrested later, was reportedly heading to Mali.
This morning, the suspect apprehended at the airport is being questioned at the offices of the anti-crime brigade.
Authorities are working to determine his role in the heist — specifically, whether he was among the four individuals who directly carried out the theft of jewelry worth €88 million.
Among the various leads being pursued, investigators are also considering the possible involvement of a member of the museum’s security team who may have collaborated with the group that executed the robbery. The hypothesis was raised last night by The Telegraph, citing “sources close to the investigation.”
