"Tarika Wins Top Prize at Sveti Vlas"

Milko Lazarov’s The Herd (international title: Tarika) claimed the Grand Prix at the 4th Sveti Vlas Film Fest. Festival Director Daniela Dineva presented the top award, newly established this year, CE Report quotes BTA

Lazarov encouraged the audience to “perceive cinema as art” and expressed hope for the festival’s continued growth.

Dimitar Dimitrov’s Gundi: Legend of Love won Best Film. The biopic about football legend Georgi “Gundi” Asparuhov has surpassed 500,000 tickets, ranking among Bulgaria’s all-time box office hits.

Former President Petar Stoyanov praised the festival’s cultural impact, predicting it will inspire future Bulgarian and European stars.

Other major awards included:

  • Debut Award (Ivan Garelov Prize): Flesh by Dimitar Stoyanovich

  • Best Director: Niki Iliev (Wingless)

  • Best Cinematography: Emil Christov (Wedlock)

  • Best Actor: Julian Vergov (Triumph)

  • Best Actress: Plamena Getova (Flesh)

  • Best Screenplay: Windless by Pavel Vesnakov, Simeon Ventsislavov, Teodora Markova, Nevena Kertova, and Georgi Ivanov.
