The most talked-about wedding of the year, the one in Laguna between Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, is not only a social event with over 200 very famous VIP guests, but also a huge boost for tourism and the economy, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

The Minister of Tourism in Italy, Daniela Santanche, is convinced of this and has asked the Statistics Office of the Ministry of Tourism for a count, and this has been confirmed by a JFC study, according to which 957 million and 299 thousand euros in economic benefits will flow (direct, indirect, induced and valuable impact on the wedding and large events sector and the visibility of the Venice and Italy brand).

The wedding - explains MiTur - represents an event of extraordinary importance for Italy and for Venice, especially at a time of decline for the city's tourism, which in the first months of 2025 recorded a 6.7% drop in overnight stays (data also linked to the introduction of the entrance ticket).

While the city depends on millions of visitors spread over an entire year to generate its consolidated tourism revenue, a single event lasting only 4 days, with an extremely limited number of participants (200 guests), has been estimated to be able to generate revenue equal to almost 70% of that annual total.

"Bezos' wedding is a strong signal of Italy's growing center in the international tourism panorama. Such events strengthen our global image, generate employment, promote the territory and attract new qualified tourist flows," said Tourism Minister Daniela Santanche.
