Klemen Slakonja, a popular actor and imitator, has been picked as Slovenia's entrant for the Eurovision song contest at the national selection EMA. He will perform How Much Time Do We Have Left, an ode to his wife and her bravery in the battle against cancer, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.

The 39-year-old, performing under the stage name Klemen, beat the second super-finalist July Jones and her racy women's liberation anthem New Religion in televoting, having previously emerged as the winner of the jury vote.

He wrote both the music and the lyrics for the song, which celebrates his wife, the actor Mojca Fatur, and the strength of their relationship in the face of a deadly disease.

Slakonja is no stranger to Eurovision. An accomplished comedian and show host, he hosted the 2020 edition of EMA, when he made a splash by performing a comedic medley covering 25 years of Slovenian Eurovision entrants.

When it was first announced that he would perform at EMA, many thought he would put on his signature flamboyant show, but he opted for a gentle ballad.

This year's EMA was co-hosted by last year's winner Raiven and Gregor Strasbergar - Štras, the singer of rock band MRFY.

EMA 2025 marked a return to a more traditional format after last year's selection of Raiven in an internal procedure was criticised as opaque and prone to corruption.

TV Slovenija picked twelve finalists, among which five separate five-member juries selected two super finalists. The winner was decided by popular vote.
