In response, the government is preparing a package of tax cuts and social support measures to be unveiled at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) in August. According to Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the planned measures—estimated at €1.5 billion—will target the middle class, vulnerable groups, and the housing market.

Key proposals under discussion include:

  • Tax cuts for middle-income earners

  • Expanded tax relief for families with children

  • Lower taxes on rental income and incentives for property owners

  • Rent support for tenants

  • Urban planning reforms to release 35,000 dormant properties for sale

The package aims to translate the fiscal gains into broader economic and social support.
