
Bulgaria's External Debt Rises Sharply
Bulgaria’s gross external debt reached €48.675 billion (44.5% of GDP) at the end of March 2025, according to preliminary data from the Bulgarian National Bank. This marks an increase of €3.806 billion (8.5%) from the previous year, CE Report quotes BTA
Short-term liabilities accounted for €9.317 billion (19.1% of the total debt), rising by 10.1% year-on-year. Long-term liabilities grew to €39.358 billion (80.9% of the total debt), an 8.1% increase.
