There were 2.76 million hectares of forest land in Croatia in 2024, which is almost the same level as the previous year, and a total of 5.5 million cubic metres of wood were produced, which is 5% more, according to data from the national statistical office (DZS).

The logging of coniferous wood in 2024 increased by 28.2%, amounting to 882,000 cubic metres, while the logging of broadleaf trees rose by 1.4% compared to 2023, reaching 4.6 million cubic metres, CE Report quotes HINA.

Last year, the production of fuel wood, including wood for charcoal, increased by 1.4 per cent compared to the previous year, reaching 2.6 million cubic metres.

The production of logs (sawlogs and veneer logs) rose by 8.8%, to 2.6 million cubic metres.

The production of industrial roundwood (wood in the rough) also increased by 8.5%, to 2.8 million cubic metres.

According to data from the DZS, the total damage in forestry in 2024, compared to 2023, increased by 33.7%. The largest increase in specific types of damage was in the number of incidents caused by fires.
