First Biofuel Marine Fuel Delivery in Greece

Motor Oil Group and Coral Marine have achieved a significant milestone with the first delivery of biofuel marine fuels in Greece. The delivery, made to the cruise ship Celestyal Discovery at the Port of Lavrio, marks the debut of an oil-biofuel blend in the Greek market, reducing CO₂ emissions by 21%, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

The fuel blend, produced at Motor Oil’s refinery and the "Verd" plant in Greece, uses biofuel derived from used cooking oil. This second-generation biofuel helps reduce environmental impact, preventing soil and water degradation.

Compliant with ISO 8217:2024 standards, the fuel blend ensures compatibility with marine engines and supports the international shipping industry's emission reduction goals. This step aligns with the International Maritime Organisation’s strategy and reinforces sustainable practices in Greece and globally.
