Bulgaria Among First to Complete Pavilion for Osaka Expo 2025

Bulgaria is one of the first eight countries to complete its Type-A pavilion for the Osaka Expo 2025, according to Kyodo News. Other nations that have finished their self-built pavilions include Ireland, the Philippines, South Korea, Australia, the Netherlands, Malaysia, and Hungary, CE Report quotes BTA

Bulgaria's pavilion will be staffed by Bulgarian students, as proposed by the Tourism Ministry. The Expo, set to take place from April 13 to October 13 on Osaka Bay’s Yumeshima island, is expected to attract 28.2 million visitors. However, as of early March, only 8.07 million advance tickets had been sold—well below the 14 million target set by organizers.

Construction delays have plagued the event, with only about 20% of Type-A pavilions completed so far. Organizers cite rising material costs, complex designs, and labor shortages as key challenges. The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition has urged participants to complete their interior displays by mid-March, though no country has reached this milestone yet.

Japan is hosting the World Expo for the third time, following previous editions in Osaka (1970) and Aichi (2005). A total of 158 countries and regions are set to participate.
