Kosovo’s construction and production prices see significant increases

The cost of construction in Kosovo increased by 0.9% in the third quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter. Meanwhile, compared to the third quarter of 2023, the construction cost index rose by 4.5%, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

“The overall Construction Cost Index in Kosovo increased by 0.9% in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the second quarter of 2024. There was an increase in energy by 20.1%, wages by 1.3%, materials by 0.7%, machinery by 0.4%, and other costs by 0.2%. The overall Construction Cost Index in Kosovo increased by 4.5% in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the second quarter of 2023. The highest increases were in energy by 26.6%, wages by 17.4%, transportation by 8.3%, materials by 2%, other costs by 1.3%, and machinery by 1.2%,” the report from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics states.

The overall producer price index also saw a 6.9% increase in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter in 2024. Compared to the third quarter of 2023, production prices rose by an average of 9.9%.

“Production prices in Kosovo increased by an average of 6.9% between Q3 2024 and Q2 2024. The largest increases by economic activity sectors were observed in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply by 20.1%, mining and quarrying by 7.8%, and furniture production by 7.5%,” the report concludes.
