Bulgaria Opens Defence Tech Hub

Bulgaria

Bulgaria has launched a new Defence Innovation Center (DIC) to boost the country's capabilities in dual-use technologies, with an initial focus on unmanned aerial vehicles and security equipment. Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov announced the initiative in response to a parliamentary inquiry, CE Report quotes BTA

In light of growing geopolitical tensions in 2025 and the EU’s push for strategic autonomy, the DIC was established through a joint effort by the Ministries of Defence, Economy and Industry, and Innovations and Growth.

The center will act as a hub for testing and developing advanced technologies, leveraging Bulgaria’s tech infrastructure to accelerate innovation and strengthen partnerships with the Bulgarian Defence Institute. It aims to speed up prototyping and refinement of new defense solutions by providing access to high-end tools and expertise.
