Bulgaria Moves Diplomats from Iran

Bulgaria

Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev announced on Thursday that the security situation in Iran is rapidly deteriorating, prompting the relocation of 17 diplomatic staff and their families to a safer location. Two other Bulgarian citizens also left Iran via Azerbaijan, CE Report quotes BTA

The Consular Service at Bulgaria's embassy in Tehran has suspended in-person operations and will now function from Baku for better coordination.

With Iranian airspace closed, evacuation options remain limited, but alternative routes are being explored. Bulgarians in Iran are advised to contact the Foreign Ministry’s 24/7 Coordination Centre for support.

Georgiev also confirmed that the embassy in Tel Aviv remains operational, assisting citizens despite similar evacuation challenges due to Israel's closed airspace.
