
Bulgaria’s Eurozone Push Advances
On Thursday, June 19, the Eurogroup will assess Bulgaria’s readiness to join the eurozone. Bulgarian Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova and Central Bank Governor Dimitar Radev will attend the meeting, where the European Commission and European Central Bank will present their convergence assessments, CE Report quotes BTA
Bulgaria aims to adopt the euro on January 1, 2026, after receiving positive reports from both institutions on June 4.
The Eurogroup is also set to endorse a draft recommendation supporting Bulgaria's accession, which will be reviewed by EU finance ministers. Final decisions are expected by the European Council next week, with the European Parliament weighing in on July 8, followed by the Council of the EU’s approval to complete the process.
