Bulgaria Expands High-Speed Internet

Bulgaria

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov signed six contracts on Tuesday with telecom providers A1 Bulgaria, Vivacom, and CETIN (part of Yettel Bulgaria) to boost digital network coverage across the country, CE Report quotes BTA

The project will bring high-speed internet to over 200 settlements in 140 municipalities, focusing on underserved and remote areas. “This will help people in small towns live like those in the capital,” Karadjov said.

The networks will offer speeds over 1 Gbps and aim to bridge the digital divide by August 2026. The total value of the contracts is BGN 433.6 million (excluding VAT), with most funding coming from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
