
EU Renewable Energy Share Rises in 2024
According to Eurostat data released Wednesday, 47.4% of net electricity generated in the EU in 2024 came from renewable sources, marking a 2.6 percentage point increase from 2023, CE Report quotes BTA
In Bulgaria, renewables accounted for just over 30% of net electricity generation. Denmark led the EU with 88.8% of its electricity from renewables, primarily wind energy, followed by Portugal (87.4%) and Croatia (73.8%). Malta, Czechia, and Cyprus had the lowest shares, at 15.1%, 17.5%, and 24.1%, respectively.
