
Bulgarian Parliament Walkout Over Euro-Sceptic Declaration
On Thursday, Bulgaria’s National Assembly saw another mass walkout as MPs, except those from the nationalist Vazrazhdane party and Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh), left the plenary hall. As lawmakers exited, Vazrazhdane MP Iskra Mihaylova declared from the rostrum that "[GERB leader Boyko] Borissov’s regime is leaving the hall." The party continues to push for a national referendum to retain the Bulgarian lev.
Vazrazhdane MPs also displayed a banner and posters reading, "Freedom for the students. Prison for Borissov." Following the statement, National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova announced a one-hour recess.
