Survey: 37.4% of Bulgarians Accept New Government Formula

Bulgaria

An express poll conducted by Myara on January 16-17 among 800 adult Bulgarians reveals that 37.4% of respondents accept the formula of the newly established government. Of these, 21.4% “rather accept” it, while 16.5% “rather do not accept,” and 20.8% outright reject it. Nearly 4% of participants were undecided, CE Report quotes BTA

The government, led by Rosen Zhelyazkov under GERB-SDF with support from the Bulgarian Socialist Party, There Is Such a Nation, and ARF, receives initial public tolerance, albeit limited. The data aligns with earlier findings indicating public willingness to compromise and support government formation, a trend noted by Myara in late 2024.

However, skepticism remains. Negative reactions are significant, with public acceptance differing from trust or approval. Supporters of the governing coalition expressed the most positive views, while others displayed mere relief at the government’s formation, the polling agency reported.

The poll also highlighted opinions on international issues. Regarding Donald Trump’s inauguration as U.S. President, 49.5% see his leadership with hope, while 35.1% feel disappointment. On resolving the conflict with Russia in Ukraine, 47% believe Trump could find a solution, but 44.3% remain doubtful.

These findings reflect a divided but cautiously optimistic public mood amid political and international developments.
