
Istanbul May Host Next Russia-Ukraine Talks
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Istanbul might host a second round of Russia-Ukraine negotiations, following talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Moscow. The first round took place in Istanbul in May, resulting in a large-scale prisoner exchange and ongoing truce discussions, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
Lavrov and Fidan also condemned the violence in Gaza and the West Bank, calling the situation “unacceptable.” Fidan emphasized the need to end the “genocide in Gaza” and stated Türkiye will continue collaborating with Russia to support humanitarian efforts.
On Syria, both ministers reiterated their countries’ support for its sovereignty and unity, and welcomed recent developments toward political and economic stability. Fidan highlighted efforts to unite Syria’s military forces and praised the easing of US and EU sanctions, crediting Turkish President Erdogan’s diplomatic initiatives.
