Drunk woman removed from Qantas flight after dancing mid-air
A woman from New Zealand was removed from a flight and charged after dancing while drunk during the journey.
The incident occurred on a Qantas flight from Sydney to Queenstown, according to Australian media reports, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
Police said 50-year-old Sheree Young, who was intoxicated at the time, ignored crew instructions, verbally abused staff, and even performed a dance mid-flight. This forced the pilot to turn the plane back to the gate, where Australian Federal Police escorted her off the aircraft.
When approached by officers, Young was aggressive and uncooperative, but was eventually removed.
“Her alleged behavior endangered her safety, that of other passengers and the crew, and caused a takeoff delay,” said AFP officer Trevor Robinson.
“Anyone behaving badly under the influence of alcohol will be removed from their flight.”
After the flight resumed, Young was released and returned to New Zealand the next day. She appeared in court today facing charges of failing to comply with crew safety instructions, which carries a maximum fine of over $10,500.
She is also charged with obstructing and resisting a Commonwealth officer, a charge that carries up to two years in prison if convicted.
