Albanian heavyweight defends WBO title with second-round knockout

Albanian heavyweight boxer Nelson Hysa continued his unbeaten run with a second-round knockout of Norway’s Thomas Narmo at London’s O2 Arena, taking his professional record to 25 wins.

Hysa, 41, successfully defended his WBO title with his 23rd career knockout, stopping Narmo after dropping him with a powerful right hand in the second round, CE Report quotes ATA.

Narmo managed to get back to his feet but appeared unsteady, prompting the referee to stop the bout.

The fight was part of the undercard for the Moses Itauma-Filip Hrgović event at the O2 Arena.

Hysa remained unbeaten after defeating Narmo in a clash between two previously undefeated heavyweights.

Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated Hysa, describing him as the first Albanian boxer to fight for a world heavyweight title.

“Congratulations, champion! Nelson Hysa, newly crowned global champion and the first Albanian in the world to fight for the world championship title,” Rama said.

The victory extends Hysa’s run in the WBO Global heavyweight division as he continues to build his international profile.
