Sweden defeated the Czech Republic 4-2 to win the IIHF World Junior Championship for the third time.

Ivan Stenberg stood out with a goal and two assists, while Viktor Eklund added a goal and an assist in the final in Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA. Kasper Juustova gave the Scandinavians the lead just before the end of the first period, and in the middle of the game, Eklund doubled the advantage on a power play, CE Report quotes BTA.

Sasha Bumedién made it 3-0 at 3:47 in the final period. The Czechs fought back with two quick goals by Adam Iržiček and Matěj Kubiesa, but 8 seconds before the final buzzer, Ivar Stenberg sealed the victory with an empty-net goal. Sweden thus claimed the trophy again after 1981 and 2012.

The Czech Republic failed to add another junior world title after their wins in 2000 and 2001.

As reported by CE Report, in the bronze medal match, Canada defeated Finland 6-3, with Sam O’Riley scoring two goals. Gavin McKenna recorded a goal and three assists for the North Americans, while Michael Hayde also finished with four points from four assists.
