The North Macedonian national team in traditional taekwondo achieved excellent success at the European Cup “Bulgaria Open 2025,” winning four medals at the event held this weekend in Plovdiv.

In strong competition with 788 participants from 13 countries, they secured two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, CE Report quotes MIA.

The gold medals in Bulgaria were won by Teodora Mitreska in the senior women’s forms category and Miki Grncheski in the junior forms category for athletes under 18. Božidar Dimitrijević won a bronze and a silver medal in the senior category.

The President of the Macedonian Traditional Taekwondo Federation, Marjancho Lazarevski, expressed satisfaction with the achievements in Bulgaria, especially since the medals were won at top-level competitions with exceptionally strong competition.

“I am especially pleased when I see our competitors giving their all to win medals at such high-quality tournaments, showing courage and sacrifice above all, and proudly representing the colors of Macedonia. Special praise goes to Božidar Dimitrijević, who earned two medals, competing in two weight categories in fights that were held simultaneously on two rings,” said Lazarevski.

He pointed out that young and promising national team member Hristijan Shibakoski also had a strong performance in Plovdiv. After two victories, he was eliminated in the quarterfinals in a close match for a medal, which, according to Lazarevski, shows that his form is improving and gaining quality.

“All our competitors showed excellent fights, while the European champion from Italy, Hristijana Paruleska, was injured in her first match while leading in the first round and had to withdraw from the competition,” Lazarevski added.
