Real Madrid star says sorry for angry reaction

Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior of Real Madrid has apologized to the club’s fans following his angry outburst after being substituted during Sunday’s 2–1 victory over Barcelona in El Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Vinícius, who was replaced by Rodrygo in the 72nd minute, was seen gesturing and shouting in frustration as he walked toward the locker room. After facing criticism, the player took to social media to express remorse for his behavior.

“Today I want to apologize to all Madrid fans for my reaction to being substituted in El Clásico,” Vinícius wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“As I did personally during today’s training, I also want to apologize to my teammates, the club, and the president. Sometimes passion gets the best of me, but I always want to win and help my team. My love for this club drives me to give everything. I promise to keep fighting every second for Real Madrid, as I’ve done since day one.”

According to ESPN, the relationship between coach Xabi Alonso and Vinícius has seen moments of tension, though the two are expected to meet privately to clear the air.

Sources within the club confirm that Real Madrid will not discipline the player, considering the matter internal.

“We’ll talk about it,” Alonso said after the match. “I don’t want to take attention away from what matters. Vini contributed a lot.”

Vinícius has scored five goals and provided four assists in La Liga this season, showing significant improvement in recent months. However, negotiations over his contract renewal remain on hold.

Sunday’s incident wasn’t the only tense moment — after leaving the pitch, the Brazilian forward also clashed with several Barcelona players and received a yellow card at the end of the match.
