
Sports Audit Debts
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bulgaria announced it will regularly release information on audits of sports federations to increase transparency and ensure proper use of public funds, CE Report quotes BTA
Recent audits revealed that several federations must repay significant amounts to the state. The Bulgarian Wrestling Federation was ordered to return BGN 314,570.05, while the weightlifting and tennis federations owe BGN 355,012.39 and BGN 380,732.66, respectively. Other federations, including those for shooting, fishing, and karate, were also found to have outstanding obligations.
Between January 1 and July 15, 2025, 30 audits were completed. Of those, 11 organizations had unspent funds that have since been reimbursed, while 16 had no discrepancies. Repayment agreements have been signed with the federations, and the Ministry reports that payments are proceeding on schedule.
