Manchester United has unveiled plans to build a new 100,000-seat stadium adjacent to Old Trafford, aiming to preserve the essence of the club’s historic home, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe emphasized that construction will depend on the government’s regeneration project for the area. The club hopes to complete the stadium within five years, though architect Lord Norman Foster suggests it could take up to a decade.

“Our goal is to have the world’s best football team playing in the world’s best stadium,” said CEO Omar Berrada. Club legend Sir Alex Ferguson also backed the project, calling it a bold step for the future.

The new stadium will be one of Europe’s largest, rivaling Barcelona’s Camp Nou. Manchester United projects the development will generate £7.3 billion ($9.3 billion) annually for the UK economy, creating 92,000 jobs and attracting 1.8 million visitors each year.
