US pledges support to Türkiye after Iranian missile incident
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and pledged full support from Washington following Iran’s missile attacks, the State Department said.
The talks took place one day after members of the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives received classified briefings on the situation in Iran, CE Report quotes MIA.
According to the State Department statement, the U.S. Secretary of State told his Turkish counterpart that “attacks on the sovereign territory of Türkiye are unacceptable.”
The statement added that Rubio promised “full support from the United States.”
Earlier, Türkiye announced that NATO air defense had destroyed an Iranian ballistic missile that was heading toward Turkish airspace.
