CEC Head Rejects Election Rigging Allegations

Politics

Moldova’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) President Angelica Caraman has strongly dismissed claims of possible election rigging ahead of the September 28 parliamentary vote, calling them "unfounded and dangerous."

Caraman warned that such accusations, made without evidence, threaten public trust in the electoral process and aim to drag the nonpartisan institution into political disputes. “We are apolitical and will not be drawn into politicians' games,” she stated, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

She noted that some political parties, instead of addressing issues in their candidacy files, accuse the CEC of bias—an approach she described as regrettable.

To ensure transparency, Caraman highlighted the CEC’s efforts to communicate clearly and regularly, including the recent publication of the proposed list of overseas polling stations for public consultation.

The CEC urges voters to rely on official information and actively participate in the upcoming elections, which will determine Moldova’s new parliament for the next four years.
