Mitsotakis Urges Cyprus Reunification
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis marked the 51st anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus with a statement emphasizing remembrance and the ongoing struggle for justice, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia
In a social media post on Sunday, he described the anniversary as a reminder of “violence, loss, and displacement,” but also a source of renewed commitment to reunifying Cyprus as a modern European state—free of occupation forces and a pillar of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
He stressed that a just solution is both a legal and moral imperative, especially amid regional instability, urging momentum in inter-communal talks based on UN Security Council resolutions.
“The slogan ‘I do not forget’ remains relevant,” Mitsotakis said, reaffirming Greece’s solidarity with Cyprus and its continued diplomatic and defense efforts.
