
Ursu Named Ambassador to Sweden
Viorel Ursu will be appointed as Moldova’s Ambassador to Sweden, following a positive advisory opinion from the parliamentary foreign policy commission, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi said the appointment reflects Moldova’s push for effective, results-driven diplomacy. He praised Ursu as a seasoned expert in European affairs, democratic governance, and international cooperation, expressing confidence in his ability to deepen ties with Sweden, a key partner for Moldova’s development.
Ursu currently serves as Ambassador to the United States and Mexico. He has over 20 years of experience, including leadership roles at the Open Society Foundation in London and the Open Society European Policy Institute in Brussels.
A former lecturer in international law and human rights, Ursu holds a law degree from the State University of Moldova and a master’s in European studies from the College of Europe in Poland.
