
Romania Highlights U.S. Strategic Ties
President Nicusor Dan reaffirmed on Wednesday that the United States is Romania’s most important ally and a vital strategic partner, during a speech at the U.S. Independence Day reception, CE Report quotes Agerpres
Highlighting the close cooperation between the two nations, Dan said their strategic partnership is built on a shared commitment to the security and prosperity of the Euro-Atlantic community. He noted the presence of U.S. troops in Romania as a visible sign of this commitment and expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Romanian people.
Dan also emphasized the importance of strengthening national defence, citing joint projects in air defence, drone and ammunition production, and strategic infrastructure. “These are more than just military assets—they reflect our shared resolve for collective defence and regional stability,” he said.
He pointed to Romania’s position near the Black Sea and the war in Ukraine as added reasons for investing in security.
The president also praised U.S.-Romanian cooperation in nuclear energy, citing the development of Cernavoda Units 3 and 4 and the Doicesti small modular reactor plant as key projects that will boost regional and European energy security.
