Paramount Settles Trump Interview Lawsuit for $16M
Paramount Global has agreed to a $16 million settlement in a lawsuit filed by Donald Trump over the editing of a 2024 interview with then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris. The funds will cover legal fees and support Trump’s future presidential library, with no personal compensation to Trump or co-plaintiff Rep. Ronny Jackson, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
The lawsuit alleged CBS News, owned by Paramount, selectively edited Harris’ comments on Israel, misrepresenting her position and harming Trump’s campaign. CBS defended its editing as routine but agreed that future 60 Minutes interviews with presidential candidates will include published transcripts, except where redactions are legally required.
Though no apology was issued, the move sparked internal backlash at CBS and renewed debate about media accountability. The settlement follows a similar $16 million agreement between Trump and ABC News last year. Analysts suggest such outcomes may encourage further legal action from Trump.
Paramount denied any link between the settlement and its pending merger talks with Skydance.
