New Rules for Judges' Evaluation
The Judges' Evaluation Commission has adopted new operational rules following recent legislative changes concerning the external evaluation of judges and prosecutors, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
Key updates include expanding the Commission to nine members—four national and five international—and increasing evaluation panels from two to three. Sessions will require at least five members, including three international ones. In case of a tie, the decision supported by at least three international members will prevail.
The regulation also sets strict timelines for reports—30 working days post-hearing, with a possible 15-day extension for complex cases. Multiple evaluations for one person will follow a set priority order and not occur simultaneously.
Finally, at the end of the Commission’s mandate, all data will be handed over to the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) and securely destroyed under joint supervision.
