Romanian President Nicușor Dan praised the United Kingdom as a strategic partner, ally, and trusted friend during a reception marking King Charles III’s birthday on Thursday, CE Report quotes Agerpres

He emphasized shared democratic values, mutual commitment to European security, and close cooperation in defense, especially on NATO’s Eastern Flank and support for Ukraine. Dan also honored the deep cultural ties between the nations, highlighting Queen Mary’s British roots and King Charles’s long-standing affection for Romania.

The president extended condolences for the June 12 plane crash in India that claimed British lives and noted the contributions of over 1.3 million Romanians living in the UK, describing them as vital bridges between the countries.

He also underlined the importance of combating disinformation and supporting vulnerable democracies like Moldova. The event concluded with thanks to UK Ambassador Andrew Noble for his role in strengthening bilateral cooperation.
