Greece's Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Vasilis Kikilias, announced from Syros on Thursday that ferry ticket prices will remain unchanged as of May 1, despite rising costs due to new EU green fuel regulations, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

“There will be no increase in ferry ticket prices, neither now nor during the summer,” Kikilias stated, noting that the government halved port fees to offset the 12–15% hikes ferry companies had planned due to the mandatory switch to eco-fuel.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting Greek families and ensuring that travel to the islands remains accessible to all, calling it a “right, not a luxury.”
