French President Emmanuel Macron has sent a personal message to Romanian Interior Minister Catalin Predoiu, commending the Romanian Police for their 'exemplary' handling of the Mohamed Amra case, the Romanian Interior Ministry (MAI) announced on Friday, CE Report quotes Agerpres

French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau also expressed gratitude to Predoiu, emphasizing the strong cooperation between the two nations in solving this complex case. 'I congratulate all the forces involved in the arrest of Mohamed Amra in Romania. I warmly thank Romania for its decisive cooperation,' Retailleau stated.

Predoiu, in turn, praised Romanian police officers for their professionalism in managing an extremely difficult case. 'The messages received at the highest international level confirm Romania's commitment to international police cooperation,' he said.

The MAI highlighted that this swift and effective operation demonstrates Romania's capability to handle sensitive security matters and underscores the strong bilateral relations with France in law enforcement collaboration.

Mohamed Amra, wanted under three European arrest warrants for crimes including escape, murder, drug trafficking, and deprivation of liberty, was captured in Bucharest last Saturday. His arrest was carried out by the Romanian Police’s Criminal Investigations and Special Operations Directorates as part of a European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams (E.N.F.A.S.T.) operation initiated at the request of French judicial authorities.
