Erdogan: Türkiye Can Rescue EU from Economic and Political Deadlock

Politics

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated Monday that Türkiye’s full EU membership is the key to resolving the European Union’s economic, defense, and political challenges, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

"It is Türkiye that can save the EU from its deadlock," Erdogan said in a televised address after a Cabinet meeting in Ankara, emphasizing that Türkiye could provide a "lifeline" to the bloc’s aging economy and workforce.

He urged EU leaders to acknowledge these realities and avoid past mistakes in Türkiye’s membership process, stressing that results could be achieved quickly with the right political will.

Erdogan also highlighted his recent talks with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, where they discussed key issues such as terrorism, migration, visa policies, and defense.

He warned of the rise of far-right movements in Europe, calling liberal democracy a system in crisis. He also condemned Western inaction over Israel’s military actions in Gaza, accusing Europe of a biased stance.
