Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Friday at the Munich Security Conference, emphasizing that more work is needed to end the Russia-Ukraine war, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

"We are very thankful for American support, President Trump," Zelenskyy told reporters, describing his conversation with Vance as "good" and the first of many.

Zelenskyy stressed the need for real security guarantees, saying Ukraine remains committed to ending the war but must prepare a plan to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Vance confirmed that discussions will continue in the coming weeks and months. "It’s important for us to start the necessary conversations to bring this to a responsible close," he said.

The meeting followed phone calls between former U.S. President Donald Trump, Putin, and Zelenskyy, aiming to facilitate a resolution.

Zelenskyy later reaffirmed Ukraine's commitment to peace, stating, "We are ready to move as quickly as possible towards a real and guaranteed peace." He also expressed appreciation for Trump's determination, which he believes could help secure justice and lasting security guarantees for Ukraine.
