Romania will continue to provide full support as the host nation for the NATO Battle Group stationed in the country, Romanian Defence Minister Angel Tilvar told French Minister Delegate for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad during talks in Bucharest, CE Report quotes Agerpres

The discussions focused on NATO cooperation, particularly the reinforcement of the NATO Battle Group, where France serves as the framework nation. Tilvar emphasized the growing partnership with France and highlighted the presence of troops from Belgium, Luxembourg, and Spain as a sign of allied solidarity and the strategic importance of the Black Sea region.

Ahead of the NATO Summit in The Hague this June, the officials addressed security challenges in the Black Sea, stressing the need for continued support for Ukraine and Moldova. Tilvar also underscored the importance of countering Russia’s hybrid actions along NATO’s eastern flank.

Additionally, the two ministers discussed European Union defence cooperation, including preparations for the first White Paper on European defence, aimed at strengthening the EU’s defence capabilities.
