Prince Harry condemns paparazzi near children’s school
A spokesperson for Britain’s Prince Harry condemned the “irresponsible” behavior of alleged paparazzi near the school attended by his children after two men were spotted close to the premises, AFP reported, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
“The decision by photographers to behave in this way near a school is deeply irresponsible,” Harry’s spokesperson said in a statement to AFP.
“There is a huge difference between legitimate journalistic activity and photographers walking around a school, stopping to look inside the building and monitoring children as they go about their daily activities,” the spokesperson added.
He said it was “particularly concerning” that some European paparazzi appeared unwilling to respect children’s privacy at school.
According to British media reports, two young men carrying backpacks were spotted by security personnel and school staff walking around the school grounds and occasionally stopping to look inside.
Prince Harry, his wife Meghan and their two children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, returned to the United Kingdom at the end of August after spending six years in the United States following their split from royal duties.
Just days after the beginning of the school year, the couple reportedly had to move their children to another school because of security concerns.
British media have reported that the family has settled in the Cotswolds, an area of England popular with celebrities.
Harry and Meghan’s unexpected return has reignited debate over security arrangements for the prince and his family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex believe they are entitled to publicly funded protection.
While the couple were living in the United States, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) determined that Harry’s security arrangements while in Britain would be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The committee reportedly met in early September to conduct a detailed assessment of potential threats against the prince and his family.
For the time being, Harry and his family are reportedly relying on private security personnel.
