Jason Statham, Yara Shahidi reunite for Miramax action sequel

Yara Shahidi will team up with Jason Statham for “The Beekeeper 2”, the upcoming sequel to Miramax’s successful action film.

The movie, to be distributed worldwide by Amazon MGM Studios and produced and financed by Miramax, is expected to begin filming this fall, with Jeremy Irons also returning, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.

Timo Tjahjanto, who recently directed “Nobody 2” for Universal following a series of major Indonesian hits (“The Shadow Strays,” “The Night Comes for Us,” and “The Big Four”) on Netflix, will direct the sequel from a script by Kurt Wimmer, who wrote the first film.

The action legend also returns as a producer through his company, Punch Palace Productions, alongside Chris Long and the screenwriter.
